Pakistan will face the West Indies in the 2nd match of the tournament on 31st May, 2019 at Trent Bridge, Nottingham. The big match, Pakistan vs India will be played on 16th June at Old Trafford. The format of the tournament is round robin like world cup 1992 that was won by Pakistan. Sarfaraz Ahmed will lead the team in this event. Pakistan has won the Champions Trophy 2017 by defeating India in England. Once again Pakistan will enter in the world cup as on of the favorite teams.

Pakistan has played 1 T20 and 5 ODI matches against England from 5th May, 2019 to 19th May, 2019. England has won the ODI series by 4-0. In the first ODI, Pakistan played only 19 overs in first innings but match was abandoned due to rain. In the second ODI, England set a massive total of 373 for Pakistan through the Jos Buttler 50 ball century, Pakistan was closed to target but unfortunately, they scored only 361 runs and lost that match by 12 runs. Fakhar Zaman played an innings of 138 runs that was not enough to chase the target. In the third ODI, Imam-ul-Haq scored 151 runs to help Pakistan made a target of 359 by losing 9 wickets. This time Jonny Bairstow played an innings of 128 runs to secure the second victory for England. In the Fourth ODI, again Pakistan batted first and made it possible to put 340 runs on the score board by 115 runs of Babar Azam. But the 114 runs of 89 balls from Jason Roy take over the Babar Azam century and helped England to chase the target with 3 wickets remaining. In the fifth and last ODI, once again England destroyed the Pakistan bowling attack and set a target of 352. In chasing the target, Sarfaraz Ahmed missed his century by 3 runs and Babar Azam scored 80 runs and lost his wicket to a run out. England bowlers ended the Pakistan’s innings on 297 by taking all wickets and won that match by 54 runs.

Pakistan team which is known for his good bowling strength now struggling with their bowling department. Muhmmad Amir who was the part of the squad against England can’t bowled a single ball due to Chicken Pox. Asif Ali has proved his ability by hitting two consecutive fifties. Yasir Shah got a chance but failed to impress the selectors in replace of injured Shadab Khan. But now Shadab Khan is recovered well and available to team for the world cup. Some changes are also expected after viewing the performance of the players against England. Pakistan will finalize their squad till 23rd May.

Pakistan will play two warm-up matches against Bangladesh and Afghanistan ahead of the cricket world cup 2019. They also have done rehearsal against England and now they have a chance to analysis their weak points and overcome them by taking some serious decisions specially need to focus on their bowling.
